  • What a wonderful week of treats and surprises. Thank you, thank you. You all were so generous with your culinary talents, flowers and stationery for letter writing. I think many of you share the same appreciation for a half-caf, half-decaf latte as I do! I love the mug. Your little “cherubs” are special to me and I love coming to work – whether it is Teacher Appreciation Week or not.
  • We also had a fantastic turn out for the third grade Donuts with Dad today. I hope all enjoyed the annual event. We are looking forward to Muffins with Mom on 4/29.
  • I’m writing this before our Music Performance tonight. I’m sure they’ll shine!

We just returned from Castlewood Canyon. What a super hike. All my cherubs will be returning home fairly dirty and tired. I say give ‘em a bath and put ‘em to bed! While they are in that bath PLEASE check them for ticks! The naturalists on the trails said we are now in tick season – and I found one on me.

In tomorrow’s assessment folders you find an unedited letter from Asia and an invitation to Donuts with Dad. They will need to bring in some reading material to enjoy (books, magazines, comics etc) If your child will not have a companion for Donuts with Dad please let me know asap so I can make arrangements.

Just a reminder that Friday, April 23 has been changed to a school day.

In the Friday Folders today you’ll find the report card. Also, in the assessment folder is info about our next cooking project.
We will be making smoothies next Thursday at 3:00. If you have a blender you could bring in and operate – and you’d like to join us – let me know.
I’ve decided to hold off on spelling lists until after CSAPs are over. We are doing vocabulary development in class.
We’re off to Asia!

WANTED

At Home Helpers -

I need to get a lexile level on many of my Book Club selections. The lexile level allows student to use their NWEA score to find a book at their reading level. Are you able to spend 15 minutes on a website looking up my book titles and writing down the lexile level?  I would send the books home with your child, you would do the looking up on your own time that evening and return the books with your child. Please let me know if you can help.

School Helpers –

Beginning Thursday, January 21st students will begin working in an SRA box (yes, similar to what we did in school!) I need three faithful volunteers to come 11:00 – 11:40 every Thursday and correct student’s work as they finish. Please let me know if you are able to help with this reading instruction/enrichment activity.

News from the Kids:
  • 43 – 16 = 27 puzzle pieces left before the party
  • We are looking forward to our St. Lucia pen pals!
  • We will soon arrive in Bermuda! We are enjoying our relaxing cruise…
News from Mrs. Kennedy:
Hello!
  • I was very proud of the work my students did in Media over the past several weeks. I was quite impressed by the quality brochure each child created. Look for the laminated copy in the assessment folder tomorrow.

  • Teacher Diane has put me in touch with Teacher Liza, a third grade teacher at Laboire R.C. Girl’s Primary School. We are looking forward to meeting our St. Lucia pen pals. I respect a parent’s wish to monitor information we share outside our school community. Today we drafted a letter to mail to our new pen pals. I ask that you review, edit and supervise a final copy (in perfect handwriting of course) at home. I’d like this letter returned and ready to mail on Tuesday, October 27th.
